Oxycodone is a synthetic opioid painkiller that is responsible for treating moderate to severe types of pain caused by injuries, surgeries and illnesses such as cancer. Because of the fact that Oxycodone is only available with a prescription from a physician, many people incorrectly believe that it is inherently safe to use, and subsequently to abuse. Unfortunately this is a powerful, habit forming medication. As such, when you take it incorrectly you are running the risk of seriously harming your body or becoming addicted to Oxycodone. People in the past have died from Oxycodone overdoses because they were using the medication in a manner that went against how it was prescribed.

Oxycodone Addiction

The problem with Oxycodone abuse is that eventually your substance abuse is going to become a physical dependency, which is how addiction is formed. Once an addiction is formed your body is going to convince you that you need more and more of the drug in order to feel alright, and you are going to feel sick or uncomfortable all the time when you are not taking the medication. What began as an innocent foray into substance abuse through self-medication is now a full blown addiction and the odds are good that you are disrupting your entire life, your work, education, relationships and family by dealing with an addiction, an affliction that plagues everything you do.
